There is nothing I love more than chilling out and treating myself to a face mask, they are honestly my favourite products in my skincare routine. I tend to use one at least twice a week, I will either have a full on pamper evening and relax while wearing one or I will apply it and do the house work. Either way I find that my skin loves this treat, but the only problem is choosing which one to use.
My skin is all over the place, one day it will be extremely dry and the next I will be dripping in oil. This makes choosing the correct face mask essential, I want one that will help with my skin problems and not aggravate it. Most people are like me and suffer with combination skin, I have dry cheeks, an oily T zone and suffer with breakouts on my chin. I used to always just use one type of face mask all over my face which would work amazing on certain areas but not on others, however there is now a trend for ‘Multi-Masking’. You might have seen these pictures popping up all over Instagram of people with coloured masks all over their face, this is now how we are told we should be applying our masks. Applying different masks to areas of our face means that we can target all our skin problems with the correct products at the same time.
When I saw that L’Oreal were bringing out their very own clay face masks designed for this trend I was excited to give them a go. They have created 3 clay masks which all do different jobs:
Detox Mask – Detoxifies + Clarifies
Purity Mask – Purifies + Mattifies
Glow Mask – Brighten + Exfoliates
The Detox Mask is enriched with Black Charcoal which is supposed to act like a magnet to draw out impurities, which should therefore really help with breakouts. The mask goes on completely black and drys down matte, it leaves the skin feeling super soft after use. I mainly use this on my chin as this is where I tend to suffer the most with breakouts.
The Purity Mask is enriched with Eucalyptus Extract, this is well known to help purify the skin. The mask is incredible for those who suffer with oily skin, it leaves my skin feeling completely matte for days after use. Again this mask goes on green and dries matte. I use this mask on my T Zone as this is the area which really suffers from oil.
The Glow Mask is enriched with Red Algae extract, this is for brightening up the skin. The texture is completely different from the other masks, they others are completely smooth where the Glow Mask has apricot seeds which exfoliate the skin. I find that my skin does feel slightly irritated after using this, so if you do suffer with sensitive skin you might want to avoid this one! I use this mask on my cheeks to help add a nice glow to my skin.
I love these masks, they are super affordable and I have seen results from using them. I would love to see a mask designed for dry skin added to this range and then I think it would be perfect! I use my Real Techniques Pointed Foundation Brush to apply the masks, this gives you precise application without the mess.
Do you like to Multi-Mask or do you just stick to one?
