Every now and again you see one product floating around the blogging world, a product which every one loves and raves about. You see everyone talking about it and think to yourself, I really need to try this as everyone is telling me I will love it, but you always seem to forget to put it in your basket. Well this was the story with the Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette.
I love Sleek as a brand, over the years I have only disliked one of their products (sorry cream contour kit)! They are extremely affordable, easy to get hold of and the quality is always spot on. Their Solstice Highlighting Palette is now a cult product within the blogging community, every blogger seems to have it in their collection and all the blog posts give it glowing reviews. I have been meaning to pick up this palette for so long but every time I went shopping I just forgot about it. Now I finally have my hands on it I am super glad I listened to all the hype!
The highlighters are housed in a beautiful gold mirrored plastic palette, gorgeous looking but a bloody nightmare to photograph! Inside is a good quality mirror which is a bonus, why do some brands use terrible quality mirrors that distort your face?! It also comes with one of those cheap little brushes which feels like little tiny knives are stabbing you in the face, come on people save yourself some money and ditch putting these in your products!
Now the highlighters themselves, the palette comes with 4, one cream and the other 3 powder. These look beautiful in the pan and I was nervous that they wouldn’t be as beautiful to apply, but they apply like a dream!
Ecliptic is the cream highlight in this palette, and the one colour I thought I wouldn’t use. I just don’t seem to get on with cream highlighters, I find they always end up applying patchy and looking awful. I haven’t yet used this on my face but when swatching it I was pleasantly surprised, the texture is completely different from other cream products I have used. It isn’t sticky in the slightest and drys to a powder finish, maybe I will get use out of this after all? I found it really hard trying to describe the colour of Ecliptic, it is a pretty beige pink.
Hemisphere is a baked highlighter with a gorgeous texture, it is super soft and blends really well. This one is lilac with a frosty finish.
Sleek describe Subsolar as a silky shimmer powder, and even though it’s super soft I much prefer the texture of the baked highlighters. This is an intense silvery white highlighter which will be perfect for those after the strong highlighted look.
Equinox is another baked highlighter and by far my favourite in the palette, with a peachy gold tone it is the warmest colour out of the four. I think this colour would be perfect on anyone.
Overall I am really impressed with this palette and so glad I finally picked it up, with 4 completely different shades you really won’t need to buy another highlighter (I am sure that won’t stop us buying more)! I do think all the shades are very frosty and cool toned and being a lover of all things warm I would love to see a warmer palette be released. This is definitely one that lives up to all the hype so I urge you all to purchase!
